Professional bio - Michelle Robinson

Michelle is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner® based in the UK, who specialises in guiding clients to uncover and address the root causes of gut and hormone imbalances. She recognises how conditions like SIBO, irregular or overly regular bowel movements, parasites, and heavy metal toxicity can lead to fatigue, hormone and sleep disruptions, and even link to ME and fibromyalgia.

Michelle understands the frustration of persistent gut & hormone issues and their impact on our health, well-being, and vitality for life. Michelle’s own path to healing involved overcoming SIBO, chronic digestive problems, Hashimoto’s & Premature Ovarian insufficiency (plus others).

During these health challenges, Michelle lacked someone who could help her not just understand the root causes of her issues but also support and guide her towards the journey back to wellness. With almost 10 years of experience, Michelle understands the importance of being both expert and empathetic, in leading women and men of all ages towards vibrant health.

Michelle most commonly supports clients with:

  • GI Map testing and natural protocol recommendations to address bacterial overgrowths, parasite infections, yeast overgrowths, dysbiosis and other microbial imbalances

  • SIBO testing and natural protocol recommendations

  • DUTCH Hormone Testing and natural protocol recommendations

  • Other Functional lab testing, including Mycotoxin Testing, Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis & more

  • Emotional processing techniques. As a trained Journey Practitioner, Positive IQ practitioner and Breath Worker, Michelle can help address both the physical and emotional aspects of healing, offering a holistic path to wellness.

My personal health journey

For years, I dismissed subtle health niggles as normal, pushing through fatigue, while balancing a demanding corporate career with my interest and passion for holistic health. Little did I know, that for many years my body had been really struggling and giving me tell-tale warning signs. Still, I was ignoring this ‘quiet voice’ but over time it became a voice that was determined to be heard. It is a theme I find common with my clients, i.e. what appears to be a ‘sudden situation’ was indicated much earlier on.

In my late 30s, my world turned upside down as my body called time on my pretence of ‘It’s alright, I’ll just keep going’. Seemingly overnight, I plummeted from functioning at 70% to zero, literally not having the energy or strength for daily life. Simple tasks like preparing food or showering became Herculean efforts. Finally, at 37, I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI). I lost my job, my home, and my social life. As the previously resourceful, competent me felt ill-equipped to fix things, I felt a gloomy sense of ‘what on earth do I do now?’

As is true for all of us on this path, there was a blessing to all of it as my gut told me there was more to the story. Turning to Functional Diagnostic Nutrition, I uncovered layer upon layer of imbalances: Hashimoto's thyroiditis, parasites, SIBO, high viral load, metal toxicity and mould illness and more. Each discovery was a piece of the puzzle, guiding me towards restoration. My earlier interest in holistic health was ignited further to fuel my ongoing study and practice.

Crucially, I learned that healing isn't just physical. Emotional work played an equally vital role in my recovery, addressing the often-overlooked impact of trauma on our gut and overall health.

Today, I use the tools and insights from my journey and continual study of developments in the functional nutrition field to guide and support others. If you're struggling with mysterious symptoms or gut issues, please know this; answers exist, healing is possible, and you're not alone. Your body is whispering - perhaps shouting - and it's time to listen. Together, we can uncover your path to vibrant health, just as I found mine.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have an FDN practitioner as experienced, qualified and empathetic as Michelle supporting our clients. Her own complex health and gut-healing journey gives her a unique ability to truly understand and empathise with the challenges our clients face, both emotionally and in managing the practicalities of life while on a protocol. This blend of personal insight and professional expertise is what enables Michelle to make such a meaningful difference for our clients at The Functional Gut Health Clinic.”
